Kenwood

Notes

  1. Kenwood DMX10375
  2. The unit was bought September 16, 2021
  3. Installed in a Thor Hurricane 29 foot RV
  4. The Thor has a factory switcher for the three cameras
  5. The switcher plugs into one of the camera feeds on the head unit.
  6. The RV has its own factory cameras
  7. The whiteout issue occurs whether driving fast or slow
  8. It also occurs in the parking lot
  9. Replication of the issue is not easy…comes and goes
  10. As for the unit itself, virtually no other issues at all.
  11. Big point here….when you have the camera view on, by touching the screen, you can revert to back HOME. This is normal and a good thing. A couple of times, however, in the whiteout mode, the screen became unresponsive by touch and the only way to get it back was to recycle the power.

Damien from Rear View Safety was suggesting that the camera infrared was turning on during the day. He suggested testing the cameras at nigh. The RV is in our driveway and these are the night shots. Personally, I find the pictures to be very poor given the quality of the camera?????

Today is September 15. I tested the cameras several times today. The final test showed the high glare of the patio in the background on the right camera. In my opinion, the infrared is kicking in because of this patio. When I switch over to the driver side camera, the whiteout condition remains the same. When I roll back to the rear camera, everything settles down.

Why would BRIGHTNESS in an image trigger this? Please review these two videos.

In this video, it is almost dark. the screen looks pretty good, but the sun is causing a huge white spot. Same situation when it is totally dark out, and the approaching headlights make that portion of the screen white too.
