I have been involved in swimming since my early high school days in 1969. As a founding member of the Windsor Aquatic Club, I competed both locally in Windsor for my high school team and provincially for the Windsor Aquatic Club. While swimming was, and is, a passion of mine, I started coaching at the age of 18. As one of the very few professional coaches in Canada at the time, I graduated in 1979 from the University of Windsor with a Bachelor of Human Kinetics, specializing in swim coaching and exercise physiology.

From graduation, I held swim coaching positions in Windsor, Hamilton, Vancouver, Etobicoke, Brampton, Barrie, Whitby, Markham and North York. The swimmers that I have coached have held 17 National and 47 Provincial Records! In summary, my coaching experiences have taken me right across the country over the last 45 years!

From 2012 to 2017 I was the Head Coach of the Whitby Swim Club. We trained at both the Anne Ottenbrite Pool and at the Toronto PanAm Sports Centre. During this time, our swimmers set more records than in any period of the club since inception!

In 2018, I re-started a company I formed in the 1980’s known as Sharper Aquatic Image. It seems I have always had a camera in my hand and I have always had a passion for superior, fluid and efficient swimming strokes. Video has no favourites or politics…..it's strictly performance!

I have almost 3000 videos online at www.youtube.com/sharperaquaticimage. Many videos are from competitions, and many are private, focusing on swimmers individual stroke analysis. I have also provided video stroke clinics at dozens of Ontario Swim Clubs.

Bringing this all back to today…..for the Town of Whitby, it is very exciting to bring my experience home. Our new home features a heated pool and provides a wonderful private environment to swimmers in our community. Whether you are an Olympian or a 4th grader trying to swim smarter, I think that both Diane & I can help you become a safer and better swimming.

You see, in life, many things change. Schools, jobs, sports, phones, homes change, but the one thing that never changes are personal skills. Trust me on this one….once a swimmer…always a swimmer … and its a skillset that you can bring to any party, pool, cottage, home or swim club!
