In my spare time, I enjoy spending time in my woodworking shop in the basement. As usual with most things I do, I tend to “go overboard” in design, construction, durability and finishing. For this, projects seem to take more time than usual. I figure it is always best to do it best where we can enjoy the fine details for a long time. Typically, I would add a 3rd, 4th or 5th layer of stain on some of the outdoor projects. At $80/gallon for Sikkens stain and a two day drying time between coats, this waiting time surely adds to the time and cost of any project, but I think the results are worth it!
